Topography:

Belize
is located on the east coast of Central America,
on the Yucatan Peninsula. It is banded to the north
by Mexico, to the west and south by Guatemala, and
to the east by the Caribbean Sea.
Belize occupies the area from approximately latitude
15 to 18 degrees north and longitude 88 to 91 degrees
west. From north to south, the country runs approximately
280 kilometres (180 miles) and from east to west
approximately 109 kilometres (68 miles) at it’s
widest point.
Belize’s total land mass is comprised of 22,923
square kilometres (8,867 square miles), including
more than two hundred offshore cayes.
People:

The
population of Belize is approximately 300,000 with
the main ethnic groups being Mestizo, Creole Maya
and Garifuna. Smaller populations of Chinese, Arab,
German/Dutch and East Indians all contribute to
the multi-racial make-up of our society.
Climate
and rainfall of Belize:

Belize is situated
in the subtropics, moving towards the tropics from
north to south. The climate is subtropical with
a brisk prevailing wind from the Caribbean Sea.
As the land rises moving inland, temperatures are
generally higher during the day and cooler at night
than experienced along the coast, where the prevailing
breeze has a tempering effect.
The coastal temperature ranges from about 10 to
36 degrees centigrade with a greater range inland.
The mean low and high temperatures are approximately
24 to 29 degrees centigrade with an average humidity
of 85 percent. The hottest time of the year and
the longest daylight hours, are experienced during
the summer months of June to August. Cooler temperatures
and shorter days are experienced during December
to February.
