Belize occupies the area from approximately latitude 15 to 18 degrees north and longitude 88 to 91 degrees west. From north to south, the country runs approximately 280 kilometres (180 miles) and from east to west approximately 109 kilometres (68 miles) at it’s widest point.

Climate and rainfall of Belize:

Belize is situated in the subtropics, moving towards the tropics from north to south. The climate is subtropical with a brisk prevailing wind from the Caribbean Sea. As the land rises moving inland, temperatures are generally higher during the day and cooler at night than experienced along the coast, where the prevailing breeze has a tempering effect.
The coastal temperature ranges from about 10 to 36 degrees centigrade with a greater range inland.
The mean low and high temperatures are approximately 24 to 29 degrees centigrade with an average humidity of 85 percent. The hottest time of the year and the longest daylight hours, are experienced during the summer months of June to August. Cooler temperatures and shorter days are experienced during December to February.
