Birding
at the Inland Blue Hole National Park
This
Tour departs at 5:30 am from San Ignacio, the drive to
the National Park takes one hour.
Bird
watching starts at 6:30 am until 9:00 am, after which
the tour continues with a tour of St Herman’s cave.
After the cave tour there is a picnic lunch at the blue
hole and swimming. The Blue Hole is actually a sinkhole
formed by the collapse of an underground river channel.
The
cost of the tour is US$75 per person and includes lunch
and entrance fees.
Belize
is a birder’s paradise; both amateurs and
professionals can encounter some of the world’s
most exotic birds. |

|

|
Western
Belize has become one of Belize’s greatest
bird destinations. It offers several birding sites
which include National Parks, surface sites, riverine
vegetation and lagoons. |
Hike
into the famous Blue Hole National Park with a local
licensed tour guide and get a chance to spot the
rare Keel-billed Toucan, Ramphastos sulfuratus and
Motmot or Momotidae. |

|

|
At
the surface sites birding is awesome, for the plazas
are open and the flora provides adequate food for
many species. This allows birding even easier for
the amateur birder. |
Birding
could never get better at the Aguacate lagoon for
the scenery is spectacular and breathtaking. This
is where both resident and migratory water birds
can be spotted. This is also the place where the
uncommon Agomi Heron can be sited. |

|

|
Our
guides have painstakingly made a Check
list of bird sightings, recording bird
species seen in Belize. We specialise in arranging
tours to suit the needs of birders, contact us to
discuss your particular interest. |
